Seattle public Library -
Summer of Learning program

Illustrator | Jeremy The Creative llc

Commissioned by the Seattle Public Library, I created a four-part illustration series for their annual Summer of Learning program — a city-wide youth initiative designed to inspire imagination and exploration. The 2023 theme, “Time Travel,” invited artists to explore transformation and self-discovery through time.

My concept centers a young time traveler — a reflection of my Black queer younger self — journeying through formative life moments. Each illustration is grounded in iconic Seattle landmarks, re-imagined in a playful and empowering way.

The illustrations were vectorized to be adapted into coloring pages distributed across Seattle’s library branches and digital platforms. This project was a celebration of personal identity, queer joy, and the local spaces that hold memory and meaning.

The ABC-XYZ Children's Book
in american sign language

Illustrator | Jeremy the creative llc

Bringing language to life through imagery, I was commissioned to illustrate and design ABC–XYZ, a children’s book written by Kinesscia Telemaque that teaches the ASL alphabet through the daily adventures of two young siblings, BB and ZT. Set in a New York brownstone, the story blends letter-based learning with meaningful character moments that make sign language feel personal, accessible, and joyful.

Each page features a letter-focused scene paired with ASL hand signs, helping readers learn the alphabet while connecting with BB and ZT’s world. My role involved crafting visual narratives that supported the educational goals of the book while honoring the author’s vision of joyful Black family life.

The project closes with a full ASL alphabet chart illustrated in diverse skin tones, underscoring that ASL is for everyone — and that all kids deserve to see themselves in the tools they use to learn. Completed on a fast-paced schedule, this project remains one of my proudest examples of storytelling through illustration.

Visual Art

Artist | Jeremy The Creative LLC

In my portrait work, I use the interplay of watercolor’s soft transparency and gouache’s bold opacity to create vibrant, saturated compositions that invite connection and reflection. My art centers on themes of Black queer identity, tenderness, intimacy, and self-discovery—often drawing from my own lived experiences while holding space for others to see their own journeys reflected back. Recent pieces like Harmony and Bloom reflect this ongoing exploration, using color, form, and expression to speak to growth, resilience, and the beauty of becoming.

In Harmony, I explored what it means to be in sync with oneself—a visual meditation on the power and freedom found in embracing change. Bloom became both an offering and a gentle reminder: to keep growing with grace, to remember our own enoughness, and to find joy in simple, grounding symbols like the sunflower. These works embody my commitment to creating art that not only reflects my personal evolution but also resonates with others navigating transformation, inviting them to pause, connect, and carry those reminders forward.
